I went to university with Jake Pyne and he recently spoke on CBC Radio about gender-independent children in Canada! He is apart of Rainbow Health Ontario and is transgender himself.

Jake is a great a man who supported me greatly in my final year of university (even though he doesn’t know this). He encouraged me to speak up in class about mental health, my experiences and the stigma surrounding mental illness which is currently ignored at Ryerson University.

Kimberley White speaks to how her daughter does not need mental health help in her gender identity. I agree with her that this is not a mental health issue. This is to say that gender is an individual “problem” when really society is forcing us into rigid roles and not allowing for self identification and flexibility in gender creation.
